The Rotterdam Mohonasen CSD serves roughly 3,000 students from kindergarten to 12th Grade drawn primarily from Schenectady County with part of the district extending into Albany County. The District has two elementary schools: Bradt Primary School, which serves students in grades K-2, and Pinewood Intermediate School, which serves students in grades 3-5. Draper Middle School serves students in grades 6-8 and Mohonasen High School serves students in grades 9-12. In the Spring of 2009 the School District solicited bids for District wide renovations and additions at each of their schools. The renovations included completely new lighting, fire alarm, and clock/PA systems at all four schools.
The lighting on this project was designed and installed in partnership with NYSERDA’s Energy Smart Commercial Lighting Program. Upon completion of the project, Kasselman Electric was furnished with certificates of acknowledgement as the Electrical Contractor responsible for the new lighting system installations. With work at four separate locations throughout the Town of Rotterdam this project was a true test of Kasselman Electric’s logistical abilities. The bulk of the work was scheduled and executed during the Summer due to the occupied nature of the spaces during the school season. Kasselman Electric carefully coordinated with the other trades and scheduled with the School District the remaining work as to not interrupt the learning environment.
