Schoharie County Office Complex

Job Summary

On August 28, 2011, Schoharie County was one of the many areas in New York State that was catastrophically affected by Tropical Storm Irene. The Schoharie Creek rumbled through the village and destroyed approximately one-third of all the homes and businesses. The flooding was so severe it was deemed a “500-year-flood” condition.

Further compounding the crisis, The Schoharie County Office Complex was under six feet of water rendering their emergency capabilities inactive. Governer Cuomo directed the NYS Office of General Services to mobolize the area’s top contractors to repair and harden the county’s facilities. Kasselman Electric brought hope back into the community of Schoharie by rebuilding the county office complex as well as harden it’s facilities to better prepare the county for future emergencies.

Kasselman Electric was responsible for all electrical demolition and construction consisting of hardened electrical distribution, devices, fire alarm, access control, surveillance, and communication systems. Kasselman Electric also installed an elevated diesel emergency generator to ensure county operations in the event of a flood and extended utility grid failure.
