For nearly 200 years, the 143 acre Watervliet Arsenal has served as a U.S. Army manufacturing facility. On site, there is a total of 72 buildings and over 2.2 million square feet of space.
Many of the buildings within the Watervliet Arsenal were outdated. With the renovations in the works, the Arsenal solicited the area’s top contractors to complete the necessary upgrades.
Kasselman Electric was responsible for many of the electrical renovations, and upgrades that happened at the Arsenal. This included the construction of a new double ended substation. This was comprised of two fused 15kV metal enclosed load interrupter switchgear, two 300kVA transformers, and all necessary conduit, pull boxes and feeders. Kasselman Electric’s work also included a complete fire alarm system upgrade, complete lighting renovation, and a building length bus duct so power could be utilized anywhere in the building.
