Whole Foods Market is a retailer of natural and organic foods. The Company operates in one segment: natural and organic foods supermarkets. The Company’s stores average 38,000 square feet in size and are supported by its Austin headquarters, regional offices, distribution centers, bakehouse facilities, commissary kitchens, seafood-processing facilities, meat and produce procurement centers, and a specialty coffee and tea procurement and roasting operation.

When Whole Foods Market constructed their first store in the Capital Region they didn’t take any chances, they selected Kasselman Electric based on our history and reputation. Kasselman Electric was responsible for all electrical construction including the fabrication of a 2000 Amp service, 800 Amp exterior generator connection cabinet, 18 distribution panels, close to 8 miles of conduit under the slab, provisions for over 30 surveillance cameras, cooling tower provisions, over 500 light fixtures, HVAC provisions, EMS provisions, and all electrical provisions for food and refrigeration equipment. The lighting control system integrates with the EMS system and can be remotely controlled from the WFM regional headquarters.

When the equipment layout of the store was redesigned just 2 months prior to the grand opening, Kasselman Electric rose to the challenge. Electrical distribution panels were retrofitted and new panels were installed to support the varying electrical requirements of the revised equipment layout. Kasselman Electric shifted to 10 hour work days including up to 20 electricians working multiple weekends to run new circuitry. Critical deadlines were achieved ahead of schedule and Whole Foods Market enjoyed a flawless store opening.
